Schoolwork at Harper is definitely not a joke and it has kept me occupied for the last few days. But not to worry, I am definitely back! I’ve been practicing very hard for my audition for Maria, which is coming up very shortly. I am also on the hunt for a dress for the beginning-of-year prom, though I don’t seem to be having much luck…

Sounds like fun! I won’t be the one traipsing around looking for a date. Definitely not. I will be accompanying the lovely and ever talented Jesse St James. So, all of you freshmen girls (and boys) can stop asking him now. He is most definitely spoken for.
This is going to be so much fun!

Le Jazz Hot // Kurt Hummel
Also, baby, Le Jazz Hot, maybe
What’s holdin’ my soul together!
Don’t know whether it’s mornin’ or night;
Only know it’s soundin’ right.
So come on in and play me
Le Jazz Hot, baby,
‘Cause I love my Jazz… hot!
You’re perfect, Kurt Hummel.
There’s absolutely no way on this planet that I could possible contain my sheer inner excitement. Look out, Harper Academy. Without any doubt, I’ll be portraying of West Side Story’s ever marvelous role of either Tony or Maria. I’d unleash my audition ideas, however, I don’t wish for anyone to steal exactly what I have planned. On a side note, I need ideas. Shall I audition for the Trouble Tones or the New Directions?

I wish you the best luck, Kurt. I know that you are going to get a wonderful part. Especially with your range! Oh my goodness, we have to run lines together. We already promised each other, didn’t we? We are going to have this in the bag, Kurt.
On the other hand, The Troubletones seems like a good group, but there will be a sheer lack of male voices, as it is an all girls group. I personally plan on auditioning for the New Directions and I hope that you will be joining me. I need my favourite countertenor with me.
It’s just a part. Is it really worth tearing each other up over?
Don’t be silly, Blaine. Rachel and I were just having a creative discussion over casting. Nothing to be worried about.
Excuse me, but I am getting the impression in this post that you honestly believe you have no competition for the role of Maria whatsoever. While I’m sure that you are a decently gifted performer, that does not mean that you are the only one fit for the role. Not only do I have a deep and personal connection with Maria unlike any other, but I have literally been training to play Maria since I could properly walk and articulate, and I am absolutely certain that the odds of me getting the role are highly in my favor.
The worst thing you can possibly do in theatre is underestimate your competition, you know. That just makes it that much more difficult to handle when someone beats you out for a role. Just for your information, of course.

Oh, Rachel. I was wondering when we would finally have the chance to meet each other. Now should be as good a time as any to let you know that I have been acting ever since before I was born and that it is highly likely that my credentials are a fair bit better than any of yours. You may believe that you were born to play Maria, but I was born and trained to play every female role on Broadway, so it appears that I am much more versatile both vocally and dramatically. And aside from that, I have been the female lead in every Harper Academy production ever since I was a freshman. That has never happened before in the history of the school. Because I have played the female lead so many times, I know fully what is expected of me to get that part, whereas you’re really taking stabs in the dark.
Have fun singing chorus, Rachel. That’s the closest you’re going to be getting to my role.
I suppose. Well, whatever happens, I still have my Warbler boys! And I’d more more than happy to just play Bernardo or Officer Krupke. Anything I can get, really.
What a shame that there’s such a lack of speaking/singing female roles in West Side Story, then I may have had the same opinion as you. But sadly, it’s Maria or nothing for me.
